Hello, hi! I’m delighted to be joining the blog hop today with Technique Tuesday and WOW! Embossing! If you’ve arrived from the blog of Karen Reategui then you are in the right place, but if not, you can click back to the beginning of the hop at Technique Tuesday and not miss anything!
PRIZES – No Blog hop is complete without a prize, right?!
WOW! Embossing Powders has 6 powders of your choosing along with a WOW carry case to store your powders safely in.
Technique Tuesday is giving away 2 x $20 gift certificate to their store.
The Winners will be chosen at random from the comments left on ALL THE POSTS on both days. We encourage you to leave comments on both days, as the more comments you leave the more chances you have to win these fabulous prizes.
On to the card!
I made this delicious fruit salad of a card using the Sweet Summer stamp and die set from Technique Tuesday and some gorgeous colors of WOW! embossing powders! I started by stamping the fruit images onto Neenah Solar White cardstock, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloring the images in with Copic markers. Then I die cut them with the coordinating dies and set them aside while I worked on the background/sentiment panel.
I used 4 different colors of the WOW embossing powder for the sentiment, assembling various pieces of the sentiment choices to create the whole. For the words “you are a” I used Primary Parma Violet, for the 1st “Sweet” – Soft Mango, for the 2nd “Sweet” – Primary Bluetiful, and for the word “friend”, I used Primary Chartreuse embossing powders.
I found that the Soft Mango embossing powder melted lighter than I liked for matching with the darker colors I had used to color both the watermelon and the strawberry, so for that word, I stamped with a coral colored ink first, then again with Versamark ink and finally, heat embossed with the coral colored powder, so the resulting color is a little darker than it would ordinarily be.
To assemble the card, I die cut the sentiment panel with a stitched rectangle die and popped that up with some foam tape on the back. I cut a piece of green patterned paper for the mat behind the card panel and adhered it directly to the yellow patterned paper covered card base. It shouldn’t surprise you that I tried to add some enamel dots. But there was already enough going on on this card that they felt like too much, so I put them away. Another card. Another day.
