Altenew Summer Swirls Floral Cones Card

Hey, hi! I had a post up on the Altenew Card Blog yesterday and wanted to share it here as well for anyone who might have missed it over there. You can click over to the Altenew blog to read how this card came to be. It involves gift shops, tissue paper and cotton candy. The sources of many great ideas!

I made this card from a combination of Altenew stamp sets that you might not think of putting together! An ice cream treat stamp set, a couple of delicate floral sets, and a birthday sentiment from a vase stamp set.

I stamped the cones from the Summer Swirls stamp set onto masking paper and cut them out so that I could stamp just the cone bottom parts onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. I stamped with Obsidian Pigment Ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.

Then I stamped a couple of the blooms from the Perfectly Perfect stamp set and a couple of blooms and some leaves from the Flower Garden stamp set. I stamped on more Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock so that I could color everything with the Altenew Watercolor Brush Pens.

I used all the most vivid colors of red, pink, orange and purple, scribbling them onto a watercolor palette and adding some water to dial back the intensity of the colors. Once the flowers and leaves were all painted and dry, I fussy cut them out.

I painted the cones then let them dry, and stamped the greeting from the Versatile Vases stamp set, once more combining Obsidian Pigment ink and clear embossing powder. Then I arranged the flowers and leaves until the composition worked and adhered them with a blob of liquid glue in the center-back of each piece so that the edges would look and add texture and interesting dimension.

I cropped the finished card panel slightly smaller than A2 sized and matted it with a coordinating plaid patterned paper from the Honey Bee Birthday Bash 6×6 paper pad.

Thank you kindly for stopping by today! I appreciate your time and your kind comments and encouragement! Have a wonderful day!
