Technique Tuesday Lucky Duck Card

Hi, hello again! We might actually be coming to the end of the “catch-up” posts with today’s project – a cute card from the Lucky Duck stamp and die set – March’s Animal House offering. Happily though, there are plenty more coming soon with new products arriving daily! Imagine a day when all the stamps have been used and all the cards made! Quelle horreur!!

Look at that Daddy Duck’s blue head! Daddy Ducks don’t actually have blue heads, they’re usually a deep intense green so dark that the highlights are blue, but when I picked up the BG57 Copic marker I knew it had to be this color! I love little pops of inaccuracy like this! I don’t know why I don’t give myself permission to take liberties when picking marker colors more often?

So I began by stamping onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloring all the bits and pieces.

Copics used: Baby chick – Y13, Y 15, Y 17, Beaks and feet – YR16, YR18, Eggs – G00, G000, R00, R000, Grass – G24, G28, Gander head – BG57, BG53, Geese bodies – W2, W3, W4, W5, W6, Wings – E33, E97, E99, Nest and Cattail – E50, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59.

To create the card background I lightly ink blended some green at the top of a folded white cardstock card base to suggest grass. Then I die cut a piece of light blue textured cardstock with the Drifting Stitches Borders and the Ocean Waves Trio dies, then stamped a Congrats sentiment with black ink and clear heat embossing.

I wish I had a stamp that says “on your growing family” but I don’t so I did the quickest, next best thing and wrote it by hand. It’s not the greatest, but it conveys the sentiment I wanted so I’m happy with that!
