Technique Tuesday Hello Winter Layout

Hi, hello! Spring has arrived in Minnesota, well….or, the melt is on, and the days feel longer with the time change, so close enough. And so, to say farewell, I’m sharing a winter layout today, about our grandson’s new winter coat!

I’m still enamored with the Traveler’s Note book format of memory keeping, and on this spread I used some new stuff, some old stuff and some REALLY old stuff!

In the New Stuff category used on this spread is the handmade orange puffy jacket embellishment and the snowflake stamped border from Technique Tuesday. It’s part of the Hello Winter stamp set that you saw me last use here. I stamped the image on Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and colored it with Arteza real brush markers and a water brush, then fussy cut it close to the stamped outline. To give the handmade embellishment a more finished look, I ran a black marker along side the edges so you don’t see the white paper on the edges.

In the Old Stuff category, is the little paper bag from Love is in the Details and the Sizzix/Tim Holtz alphabet dies. I die cut the title letters intending to use the positive letters until I saw the leftover negative piece and decided I liked that better!

And in the Really Old Stuff category, is the Karen Foster – Frostbite Fashion woven tag. I’ve been hanging onto it for a very long time, but I just KNEW I’d use it eventually and so it has survived all stash-busting and purging till now. It gave me great pleasure to adhere it to this page!

The journaling on the tag says, “Archie was SO chuffed about his new ORANGE winter coat on the day we picked it out. He might only be 18 months old at the time but he KNEW he was styling’!” I used the We R Memory Keepers typewriter to journal on the tag and keep it tucked inside the little brown paper bag.

I love when I can make supplies for one hobby (stamping) transition seamlessly to another (memory keeping), and this stamp set did that beautifully!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
