Hey, hi!! Haven’t been here in a while! I was having too much fun splashing with grandchildren, I guess. But I’m back and I have a card to share that features the Technique Tuesday August Greenhouse Society set called Cornflowers.

For something a little different, this month I didn’t create a card using only the current subscription set, but I dug through my stash to find a couple of other sets from the past that could be used along with the Cornflower set.
I used the flower stamp from the Royal Jasmine set, along with the bow stamp from the Calla Lily set and one of the birds from the Happy Hummingbirds stamp set.
I stamped each of the images onto watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx black ink and heat set with clear embossing powder, then die cut the shapes with the coordinating dies. I used the Mijello Mission Gold paint set to paint the flowers, keeping to a simple color scheme of blue, a tiny bit of green and some more blue!
I used a brighter shade of blue on the Cornflower image to keep the focus on that one, (informed by the photos of Cornflower flowers I found online), and then I made up a new shade with the Royal Jasmine flower – different from any of the white RJ flowers I saw on the interwebs!
The painting on these images is super simple, with very little color mixing involved. Once everything was dry I created a little flower bouquet with the two images images together.
While the painted images dried, I prepped the card front by trimming a piece of A2 textured colored cardstock slightly smaller than A2 size, and running it through the die cutting machine in a Bead Board embossing folder from Taylored Expressions.
For the sentiment I die cut the word “you” in the Lisianthus stamp/die set, from black cardstock and stamped the “are in my thoughts” stamp from the Cornflower stamp set, combining them on a strip of paper and adhering it underneath the bow-tied-bouquet.
I adhered the lightly painted Hummingbird in the upper corner, and added some clear flat sequins to finish the card.
The Cornflower stamp and die set are part of the monthly subscription for the Greenhouse Society, and can be purchased without the subscription for a few dollars more. If you’re interested you can check it out here!
