I used the Ornamental Feature 3D Embossing Folder to create both of these cards and added an inking technique to really highlight the beauty of the design.

For my first card, I inked and embossed the whole of an A2 sized card panel, using Morning Frost ink and inking multiple times to get deep, complete coverage.

On this card, I inked the side of the embossing folder where the design was recessed, and lined up the cardstock by shifting it around on the opposite flap of the folder.

While the ink dried, I stenciled a stripe of cardstock using the same Morning Frost ink and the Classy Stripes Stencil. I stamped the sentiment from the Autumn Bounty Stamp set, and heat set with Platinum embossing powder. I repeated that with the flower, leaf combo from the Flower Garden Stamp set and fussy cut it out. I backed the striped sentiment strip with some blue cardstock and added some enamel dots to match.

For the second card, I used Icy Water ink to ink up the opposite flap of the embossing folder – the side where the design is raised. Before running the cardstock and folder through the die cutting machine I was careful to wipe off any stray ink that went beyond the ornamental design.

To emboss one half of the design in the folder, I lined up the top of the cardstock panel to the top edge of the bottom half of the mandala design. Then I lined up the bottom edge of the design with the bottom edge of the embossing base and the cover plate, and rolled the runner almost through but stopping short so that the bottom of the folder wouldn’t imprint on the cardstock. (It took me 4 tries to get it right!)

I trimmed the bottom of the embossed card panel and shifted it down to allow a band of patterned paper across the top. I stamped a sentiment from the Leaf Canopy Stamp set and heat set with white embossing powder. I matted the sentiment strip with some contrasting kraft cardstock and added a few tan colored enamel dots to match.
