Technique Tuesday; Lots to Love!

Hey there, hi! I’m back today to share some inspiration with you for your Valentines Day (or sweetheart Birthday or Wedding) projects! Technique Tuesday has curated a collection of Love-themed products that are 20% off until Thursday, Feb 23, and I’ve combined a few of them to create today’s cards.

I used the Felicity & Flynn the Foxes Stamp Set and stamped onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock because I wanted to use my Kuretake Zig Clean Color real brush markers to color them and the finish on that paper allows for lovely blending. After coloring them up, I die cut them with the coordinating dies and set them aside while I created background card panels.

For my first card, I used a large heart shaped die from Lawn Fawn to die cut a piece of cardstock scrap that I could then use as a stencil to blend ink in a lovely soft pink heart shape. I stamped a sentiment from the Felicity & Flynn the Foxes stamp set, partially overlapping the heart, then added dots along the heart outline with a Copic MultiLiner pen.

I die cut a string of hearts from white cardstock using the Heart Strings Die set and cut it in half and adhered it to the heart in a swag then adhered the stamped, colored and die cut fox overtop.

Because it’s often hard for me, I challenged myself to keep this as Clean & Simple a card as possible! I trimmed the card panel down enough to allow the black striped patterned paper to show on the left edge and adhered everything to a card base. This card is finished at this point, but we’re just getting started on card number two!

As with the first card above, I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock, colored the fox with Zig markers (using a small wet paint brush to blend and smooth the colors) and die cut it out with the coordinating dies. I also die cut the fox three more times from white cardstock and adhered them all together in a stack.

I die cut the “i love you” sentiment from the Sending Love die set, from 110lb white cardstock and two more white cardstock “heartstrings” to swag across the card front.

I made myself more heart stencils by die cutting one of each size of heart dies from this Lawn Fawn die set. I die cut them from clear acetate packaging material so I’ll be able to use them as stencils again for a very long time! Next, I stenciled pale hearts and vibrant hearts, pink, red and peach colored hearts. All randomly placed with a few overlapping here and there. Finally, I stamped black outline hearts (from the Sassy Family stamp set) all over as well.

To finish the card, I positioned and adhered the heartstrings across the front, added the die cut sentiment and the layered, stamped and colored fox. I trimmed the card panel on all four sides to allow the pale pink cardstock mat to show, and this card is finished!
