Technique Tuesday Tommy & Polly the Tropical Birds #2

Hey, hello! As promised, I have another card to share from my Technique Tuesday projects for August. Tommy and Polly the Tropical Birds are this month’s release for the Technique Tuesday Animal House monthly subscription. Click here to find out how you can sign up and save every month!

I stamped the bird images onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. Then I die cut them with the coordinating dies and joined their branches to make it look like they’re all sitting on the same tree limb chatting it up!

For the Toucan I kinda sorta stuck to their realistic colors but for the parrot I made up and followed my own color rules. You can do that when you’re coloring. I also stamped and die cut several more leaves and flowers and colored them with Copic markers as well.

I also die cut some flowers from fun foam to give them some extra dimension. For the framed panel that the birds and branches are adhered to, I die cut a stitched frame using the MFT Single Stitch Line Rounded die. I ink blended with Ranger Distress inks, inking the frame and the frame insert separately so that they would look united but not. If you know what I mean? I wanted them to stand out a little more from each other without being too distracting to the eye. Then I stamped the sentiment with black pigment ink.

I adhered the stamped, colored and die cut birds to the framed background panel, mounted that with foam tape to a Doodlebug Designs patterned paper, and all of that to a white cardstock card base. I added the leaves and flowers to the branches to balance the whole of the design.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
