Technique Tuesday Animal House cards and giveaway…

Hi, hello!

I’m excited to share some cards today that I created with the Phyllis & Finn the Fish stamp and die set from Technique Tuesday!  This set is part of a series from the Animal House collection and they have some freebies that you can read about down below.

You’ve already heard me go on about my love of punny stamp sentiments and Technique Tuesday has that in spades!

For my first card I stamped an all-over design on Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and while there’s only two different fish in the set, I colored them up with a variety of bright colors and now it looks like there’s a bunch of different fish.  I used Kuretake Zig and Arteza real brush markers to colorpaint (I’m making that a word; expect to see it often), stamped a sentiment onto black cardstock and layered that over some black thread with dimensional adhesive.  All of the fish on these cards have their eyeballs bugging out with Glossy Accents – I wish you could see it better in the photos, but trust me, it’s cute!

For my second card, I finally climbed on the alcohol-ink train and made my first artsy background by playing with Tim Holtz/Ranger alcohol inks and 91% alcohol on Yupo paper.  It’s a perfect technique for suggesting a deep sea feeling.  Then I colored and die cut three fish to accompany the “swimming by…” sentiment.

The last card was a little trickier.  The fish are stamped, colored and die cut, then adhered to the card base itself, then the die cut shapes are cut again from a card stock panel and adhered over top in a window fashion, using dimensional foam tape.  I die cut the kissing fish shapes first and then used those openings to position the colored fish and glue them down.  There is a way to just stamp on the card base itself and eliminate the step of die cutting the colored fish, but trying to figure that out requires an engineering degree and made my armpits sweat.  This strategy was simpler and makes me just as happy.  Again I stamped the sentiment on black card stock and adhered to the card front with a sliver of patterned paper peeking out from behind to dress things up.

So now, on to the stamp freebies!
