Simon Says STAMPtember Blog Party!

Hello and welcome! It’s STAMPtember and we’re starting the month off with a huge blog party!! I’m so glad you’re here! The release that Simon Says Stamp has to start off the month is EPIC!! and there are over 85 paper crafters with projects to showcase those products!! Be sure to read to the end of this post for a special Simon Says STAMPtember promotion!

If you visited yesterday, you saw that I got to play with a new die called Engraved Feather! Feathers are like rainbows for me – universally welcome and beautiful, so I made another card with that die to share with you today!

For this card, I started by painting a piece of watercolor paper with muted shades of blue and tan. I mostly just re-wet and applied the leftover colors from the lid of my Mijello Mission Gold paint palette, because that’s where you get the most divine color mixes! I painted an A2 sized piece of paper so that I could die cut several feathers and pick the one I liked best, plus have a couple left over for another card, another day!

Once the paint was dry and the feather was die cut, I splattered it with some brown paint, cuz, like, feathers actually do have speckles sometimes! Next, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut out a piece of kraft cardstock. Then I ran the rectangle through the die cutting machine again, this time with the feather die.

I was careful not to lose the tiny portions of the kraft cardstock that were die cut along the ruffled edge of the feather, piecing everything back together with the feather inlaid in the opening of the rectangle!

I found a coordinating piece of textured cardstock in my stash and trimmed it slightly wider than the feather/rectangle and stamped a sentiment from the Clean Line Everyday stamp set, with brown ink. I machine stitched along each side with brown thread to add extra interest. Finally, I adhered all the layers to a folded card base with foam tape behind the rectangle and feather to add dimension.
