My card today features the Simon Says Stamp Fading Stars stencil, plus a few other products, including one I haven’t used in awhile – Gel Gloss Acrylic Medium!

I started by ink blending a rainbow assortment of colors of ink through the Fading Stars Stencil, going from bottom to top. I used Altenew inks – Ruby Red, Orange Cream, Warm Sunshine, Parrot, Azurite and Midnight Violet, slightly overlapping as I went for a seamless blend.

Then I went back and ink blended again over the entire slimline card panel, using the same colors of ink over the same areas so that the stars sort of, but not entirely, blend into the background. Kind of.

When I was happy with the colors of the stars and the background surrounding them, I replaced the stencil again overtop the inked stars, and using a palette knife, spread some Golden Extra Heavy Gel Gloss over the star openings. This product goes on cloudy white, but dries clear. I used it because I wanted the stars to be glossy, but I find that using an embossing ink pad like Versamark and clear embossing powder overtop a heavily inked cardstock is tricky. This was easy and quick – the only time factor is waiting for it to dry and turn glossy.

While the acrylic medium was drying, I stamped a “congrats” stamp on heavy black card stock, white heat embossed it and die cut it. Below that I stamped a sentiment from the Clean Line Everyday stamp and die set. To finish I added enamel stars from Altenew, in coordinating shades.
