Hi again friends! It’s a 2-post day and I’m excited to share another card with you! This one is up on the Jane’s Doodles blog and it’s key-UTE!
I’ve been making some Quiet Books for the last several weeks and one of the pages has strings of character buttons on it, including a cute ladybug or two. I had a little bag of these cute ladybug buttons leftover and begging to be used somewhere else so their cuteness wouldn’t be lost or overlooked!
I used the jar stamp from the Life Is Good stamp set, stamped it once on acetate with Stazon black ink, and once on an A2 sized cardstock panel. I used a sharp (fresh, new blade!) craft knife to cut around the outside of the jar on the card stock making a window behind which I adhered the acetate jar. I laid the acetate jar over the card front and estimated where the jar lines would fall and used a small Life Changing blender brush to lightly blend on some blue ink along the bottom edges of the jar, and some grey ink at the edges of the sealer ring.
I also stamped a couple of leaves from the Hibiscus stamp set and colored them with Arteza real brush markers and a water brush. I cut them out by hand and adhered them in the jar. I thought about leaving them loose in the shaker window, but I also knew that they would shake around and fall imperfectly and that it would irritate me not being able to adjust them so I just glued them in place.
The sentiment for the card was generated in Word on the computer, printed onto a piece of printer paper and then I lightly taped the card front to the printer paper before running it through a second time, to make sure it printed in the exact spot on the card front that I wanted.
I used metal snips to remove the shank from the back of the button, but even at that, I had to use 3 layers of dimensional foam tape to create a deep enough shaker window to accommodate the little bug. I thought about adding enamel dots or ink splatters but the absolute clean-and-simple-ness of this card was too pleasing to mess with.
Now of course, my mind is spinning with more jar-card ideas so don’t be surprised if you see a variation on this sometime soon! Thank you for stopping by AGAIN and have a great rest of your day!
