Altenew Watercolor Poppy Garden Card

Hi friends, I’m up on the Altenew Card Blog today with this card and wanted to share it here as well.

I went all crazy again with the colors on this floral set, but I love it and I’m not apologizing, lol! I used the Artist Watercolor 24 Pan Set to paint with, and the Altenew Watercolor Paper Pad.

I started by painting stripes of color onto an A2 sized card panel and setting it aside to dry while I stamped the flowers. I used the Poppy Garden stamp set to stamp masks first, that I cut out and used to layer one bloom and two flowers behind one another. I stamped with Obsidian Black ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.

I painted the flowers to loosely match the stripes on the background, painting with Fiery Sunset, Cherry Blossom, Shades of Purple, Sea Shore, Rain Forest and finally, Summer Afternoon. I painted a light first layer of color then went back and added more depth of color before the first layer had completely dried.

I fussy cut the floral arrangement and backed it with foam tape for extra dimension. I also added black paint splatters to the background card panel and stamped two sentiments to create a whole greeting. The “thinking of you” sentiment is from the Poppy Garden stamp set and the “dear friend” is from the Say It With Love stamp set.

I adhered the layers together and glued the striped card panel to a folded card base of cream cardstock. A pretty easy, if not wholly accurate rendition of a flower bouquet card!

Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
