It’s no secret that I love watercolor brush pens! And these new colors added to the Altenew brush pens stable are utter perfection! I stamped flowers from the Build-A-Flower: Poppy stamp set onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock because it’s a great surface for letting watercolor brush markers shine.
I used the Ruby Red, Rouge and Citrus Burst colors to achieve the blend of colors you see on the blooms. Where the finished blend runs more to orange, I’ve used more of the yellow blended with the darker reds.
The combination of Emerald, Lagoon, Mountain Mist and Citrus Burst make for beautifully colored stems and leaves. For all the coloring/painting, I used the Altenew water brush to fade the colors out towards the edges of the petals.
After coloring all the blooms and leaves I hand cut all the shapes, including some images left uncolored. For one card, I provided background texture by splattering with black water color ink and for the other card, I ran a piece of card stock through a lined embossing folder.
Both cards have stamped sentiments from the Build-A-Flower: Anemone Coronaria stamp set. In each case they are stamped with embossing ink onto black card stock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Each card front is adhered to a coordinating colored card stock card base and the foremost blooms are popped up with dimensional foam adhesive.
