My project today is a bit of a departure from my usual muted florals, but is exciting to me in an altogether different way. All that rainbow of color!!
To begin, I stamped onto cardstock from the Altenew watercolor paper pack, with the background stamp design from Pattern Play: Circle stamp set and heat embossed with platinum embossing powder. Then I used a rainbow of colors of Altenew watercolor brush pens to color in all the circles. In order, I used: Crimson, Autumn Blaze, Warm Sunshine, Lime, Lagoon, Desert Night, Persian Blue, Midnight Violet and Ruby Red.
My technique, since the watercolor markers have such intense pigment, was to brush a thin line of color along one “corner” of a circle. I typically colored 3-4 circles at once, and immediately after laying down that thin line of color, I brought in a brush lightly loaded with clean water, to lighten and blend that color down toward the opposite side of the circle. Working from top to bottom in the order of colors listed above, I created a card panel of rainbow colored circles.
For the sentiment, I die cut the hugs die and shadow die from the Hello and Hugs Die Set and stamped the “sending lots of” from the Hello and Hugs stamp set. I also die cut a layer of fun foam with the hugs shadow die to pop up the sentiment for extra dimension. I used a couple of layers of foam adhesive behind the sentiment strip to let it sit at the same elevation as the die cut word. I trimmed the card panel slightly smaller than A2 and adhered it to a white cardstock card base.
