Hello, hi! Welcome to the Altenew Hot Foil Plates, Embossing Folders and Stencils Collection release blog hop! You should be arriving from Jennifer McGuire’s blog but if not, you can click here to start at the Altenew Card Blog.
I have 3 cards to share today, two that feature new hot foil plates, and another that showcases the Sparkle Bright layering stamp set.

I’m going to start with my favorite first! I’m so wowed by this hot foil plate that I can’t even! The Gilded Rose hot foil plate is about 5”x4.5” and I didn’t want to lose any more of it than I absolutely had to so I made my card a 5″x7”.
I used Spellbinders Rose Gold foil on Neenah cardstock, then used the stencils to add the layers of color with Frosty Pink, Cotton Candy, Coral Berry and Ruby Red Crisp Dye inks. That simple combo was stunning enough in my opinion as to not need any more embellishment, so I trimmed the card panel to 4”x5.5” and added foam dimension tape to the back. I tell you, that glint of rose gold when it catches the light, with the pink inks, takes my breath away!
To keep the card simple, I die cut a layered greeting with the Handwritten Hello and stamped “friend” from the Halftone Hello stamp set. I used Paper Accents textured pink cardstock to mat the rose card panel, and trimmed it slightly smaller than an A7 card and adhered the layers to a folded card base.
Next, I hot-foiled the same Gilded Rose plate on grey cardstock with silver foil, for another subtly elegant, tone-on-tone look.
And once again, the card needed little else in the way of embellishments. I used the Congrats Word Die, cutting the main word from silver foil cardstock and the silhouette die from vellum.
I found that layering the vellum directly onto the grey cardstock made it disappear a little, so I die cut 3 more layers of the main word and adhered them together in a stack behind the vellum to lift it up off the card front and let it stand out more. Completing the card required only some simple clear sequins.
My last card features the Sparkle Bright layering stamp set. I stamped first onto Neenah cardstock with Obsidian Pigment ink, then stamped a single layer of Frayed Leaf for the leaves, and two pale layers of peach – Peach Perfect, Rouge – for the flowers.
Then I added more shading and color interest with alcohol based Artist Markers. I was careful not to color over the inked lines, avoiding any possible smudging. The tints are more apparent on the leaves than the petals, but they are there. I love this technique because it cuts down on the time needed to make a card by adding the base color so easily.
The next step was to fussy cut the top left corner (easily done with the matching die too, but I didn’t have it) so that the patterned paper adhered to the folded card base could be visible. I covered the back of the stamped and colored panel with Dimensional foam tape, adding tiny bits of tape to all the little leaves to support the dimension.
I stamped a sentiment from the Sparkle Bright stamp set on the card front with Obsidian Pigment ink and heat set with clear embossing powder, then added some clear sequins to finish the card.
