Hi, hello!
These layering stamps are a dream to use, with their illustrated guide on the back of the package that shows you exactly which part of each layer needs to match up with the last layer. I used Altenew inks to create the flowers, choosing Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Coral Berry for the outer petals and Buttercream, Mango Smoothie, Warm Sunshine and Honey Drizzle for the flower centers.
Then I used Espresso and Jet Black for the stamens and stamen heads. To get that slightly lighter colored second flower, I doubled up on the Pink Pearl, using it for a single inking for the first layer, then multiple inkings for the 2nd layer and omitting the final Coral Berry for the last layer. Then for the leaves, I used various combinations of Frayed Leaf, Forest Glade, Olive, Moss and a little bit of Minty Mint here and there. I stamped the Hello with Altenew Clear Embossing Ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. In order to ensure that my decorative trim edges (peeking out from behind the main card panel) matched, I ran the clear embossing ink along the edges of the cardstock and heat embossed that as well. To create the partial die cut effect along each side, I used and straight-edge and a sharp blade to cut a straight line that ran right up to but not into the leaves and blooms, then I cut out the rest of the shapes with fine tipped scissors.
The stamp set comes with matching dies and since I’m not one to miss the chance to use ALL of the products, I stamped and die cut more leaves and a bloom. In the spirit of full disclosure, I’ll say that this bloom was my practice one to see if I like the colors together and it turned out so beautifully that I couldn’t not use it on a card. The fact that there are scratches and scribbles on the back side is nobody’s biz but my own!
For a 5% discount you can purchase this stamp set with a curated set of ink colors here. The official name of this flower is Alstroemeria and if you google images of that flower you’ll see a stunning array of colors you can use to create this.
Next up is this card where I used the same colors of inks as listed above for the bloom and the leaves, and then I die cut each piece and layered it all over a piece of corrugated paper that has been run through a sewing machine to keep the edges in place. (That’s a joke. No tricky technique here.)
I heat embossed the hello sentiment with gold embossing powder on vellum and cut the piece into a tag with a fishtail end. A few rhinestones to finish things up and we’re all done here!
