Hello friends, it’s a blog hop day! Today Altenew is releasing the Build-A-Flower Camellia Japonica stamp and die set and we have some beautiful inspiration to share with you! You should have arrived here from the Altenew Card Blog, but if not, be sure to click on back to the beginning of the hop there so you don’t miss anything.
I have two cards to share today. One uses all four shades of red in the Red Sunset ink family and the other uses just two stamped layers to create a more indistinct flower.
All of Altenew’s layered florals are beautiful, but working with this one convinced me that it is especially gorgeous! Because of that I chose to keep my card relatively simple, to keep the focus on that full, rich bloom.
After stamping all the layers of the bloom and leaves, (Red Sunset for the bloom and Green Fields + Moss for the leaves), I die cut them with the coordinating dies. I also die cut a stitched circle, then ran it through a polka dotted embossing folder and adhered the flower and leaves to frame the bottom portion of the circle. I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Strips stamp set with the luscious new Obsidian pigment ink, then added a few coordinating enamel dots to complete the card.
To achieve a ghost-like bloom for the next card, I stamped layers 3 and 4, and omitted stamping 1 and 2. I used Limestone ink for layer #3 and then clear embossing ink for layer #4, then I heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
Because the die cutting provides additional shape to the flower, those two layers of stamping are enough to convey the general shape. I added leaves stamped in the same colors as the card above for just a pop of color, and adhered everything to some muted patterned papers for the card panel. I used one of the sentiments in the BAF Camellia stamp set to stamp on this card, again using the Obsidian black pigment ink. This time I completed the card with some silver flat sequin embellishments from Pretty Pink Posh.
