Technique Tuesday July Release Blog Hop

Hi there and thanks for visiting again so soon! It’s another blog-hop day and this time we’re hopping to celebrate the release of the July product line at Technique Tuesday! We have oodles of inspiration and a chance to win so read to the end for the details for that! You should have arrived here by way of Latisha Yoast’s blog, but if not, you can click back to the beginning and not miss a thing.

This month I used the Animal House design – Sloane & Slater the Sloths stamp and die set, and who doesn’t love a good sloth pun??!

I began by stamping onto Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink – a Copic friendly ink. I also stamped an A2 sized card stock panel all over with the leaves from this set. Then I colored the sloths and the leaves with Copic markers.

I die cut a stitched heart from the middle of the leafy card panel and colored in the background with pale green Copic marker, adding a tinted edge of slightly darker green. I die cut some leaves using a Stampin’ Up! die and colored them with the same greens as I’d used on the leafy panel, then added fine-tip permanent marker stitch lines around the edges.

I used a cloud-edge die from Lawn Fawn to die cut a homemade stencil and inked the layers of clouds starting with a lighter shade of blue at the top and a deeper intensity of blue closer to the bottom. I layered the sloth hanging onto a tree limb with the die cut leaves, and the heart to the cloud background card panel and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

For my second card, I used the remainder of the leafy background panel and popped it up with some dimensional foam tape. I added some stitch lines around the outside of the heart opening to give it some needed definition. On the card base I ink blended some blue ink, again, darker towards the bottom and lighter closer to the top. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine ink.

I added dimensional foam tape to the back of the sloth where it overlapped the bottom of the heart opening and to the leaves above.
