Altenew NEW Year-End Celebration Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, hi! I’m blog hopping today with Altenew to showcase the new stand-alone dies just released here and I, along with all the other hoppers, have some fun projects to share with you! If you’re arriving here from Kelly Griglione’s blog, you’re right where you should be, and if not, you can simply click back to the start of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog so you don’t miss anything!

My first card is a mini slimline and uses the Decorative Tags die set for the rose-within-a-tag element on the card. I started by die cutting the tag from watercolor paper and sticking a piece of Press ’N’ Seal to the back to keep all the negative pieces in place and secure. Then I painted the rose with shades of dark pink to golden yellow and letting them blend as they dried.

I took the rest of the tag, without the negative pieces and stamped it with a text stamp called Say It With Love, stamping off first onto scratch paper and the 2nd time onto the edge of the tag. To keep all the little pieces (petals) intact with the outline/tag die cut, I traced the shape onto a sheet of thin typing paper and adhered all the pieces to it. Then I popped up the tag with some foam tape against a background of patterned paper from the Pinkfresh Collab paper pack called “Celebrate”.

The “thanks” sentiment is a die cut from the Signature Words Die set and the secondary sentiment “a bunch”, is from the Build A Flower: Lavender stamp set and is heat set with Platinum embossing powder.

Next up is a full size Slimline card featuring the Nesting Slim Labels die set in this release. I also used an older stamp called Bouquet of Love, stamping and heat setting with clear embossing powder, along with the Sentiment Strips stamp set. I used the Watercolor 36 Pan paint set and the 24 Pan paint set from Altenew, mixing a little brown or grey paint with the more vibrant colors to mute them down.

I die cut the full-size Bouquet of Love image, then the large label shape from watercolor paper for a perfect paper shade match, aligned the floral bouquet overtop of the label shape and die cut the arrangement a second time to match the left side perfectly. I stamped the sentiment, heat embossed and trimmed it to a narrow strip and adhered it across the width of the slimline card.

My last project today is a quick and simple tag, using the second die in the Decorative Tags dies set. While keeping the tag and pieces intact with a small piece of Press ’N’ Seal, I watercolor painted the tag with shades of dark blue, lime green and turquoise blue paint. Once dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Holiday Tag Sentiments stamp set and heat set with silver embossing powder.

I traced the outline of the whole tag onto some pretty patterned paper in my stash (because of the high likelihood of seeing the back side) and fussy cut it before adhering both positive and negative parts of the die cut to the solid background. I tied a piece of silk ribbon to the top of the tag and called it complete!
