Hello and welcome to the Day 2 Blog Hop for the DieCember release at Simon Says Stamp! I’m delighted to have been able to play with some of the products in this release (Die cutting is one of my favorite card making techniques!) and to be participating in this hop! Today is Day 2 of the blog hops, and there’s a whole lot to see and love from the Day 1 hop as well! You should be arriving here from Barb Engler’s blog, and if not, you can simply click back to the start of the hop at the Simon Says Stamp Blog.

For today’s card I used one of the dies in the DieCember release – the Bunch of Balloons, along with a couple of products from previous releases that are still available in the SSS store – the Picture Book Panda die set and Handwritten Borders stamp set.
I wanted to create a whimsical card, with colors that would remind you of Peter Rabbit or Winnie the Pooh books, so I die cut the balloons die from watercolor paper and mixed muted paint colors from the Mission Gold Watercolor Paint set, buy adding lots of water and other “dirty” colors left in the paint lid from previous painting sessions. I painted each balloon separately and set them aside to dry.
I die cut all the pieces of the Picture Book Panda die set from watercolor paper and painted them with Mission Gold watercolor paint too. Once dry, I inserted the balloons back into their openings and taped them on the back to keep them in place.
I stamped and white heat embossed a birthday greeting from the Handwritten Borders stamp set and adhered it to the bottom. Then I found the perfect piece of patterned paper in an old My Favorite Things – Fun and Frolic – 6×6 paper pad in my stash and used it for the background panel. It’s very old and not in stock anywhere anymore except for here.
I left the rest of the card very simple to keep the focus on the sweet balloons and panda bear.
Your next stop on the hop is Emma Williams blog. Don’t forget to use the GLOW54 code to receive the little Angel die free with a $30 purchase.
As well, you can find all the projects from this release at this gallery, and please add to it when you create with this release too, so we can all be inspired!
