Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Poppy Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey, hi friends! We’re back with another Altenew Blog Hop, showcasing a new monthly subscription release called Paint-A-Flower! 2020 is off to an impressive start with the January design and I’m already excited by the possibilities! This Paint-A-Flower set has stolen my heart and I’ve only seen the first two months’ designs! Read to the end of this post for the subscription details about this brand new series!

You’ve likely arrived here from Nicole’s blog, but if not, simply click back to the beginning of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog so you don’t miss anything.

Taking the name of this new series literally, I painted my stamped image. I began by stamping onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink, as well as onto some masking paper, then fussy cutting the image.

I painted the entire stamped image very simply with Altenew Watercolor paints, using one paint color for the flower and another single color for the leaves. I added more or less water to the pigment to give the variation from light and dark.

Once the painted image was dry, I covered it completely with the fussy cut masking paper flower and leaves. Then I die cut a stitched oval opening from another piece of masking paper and laid it over the stamped, masked image, centering it on the card panel. I used a blender brush to lightly blend a background of pale green (Frayed Leaf) to match the color in the leaves.

Then I placed the Bubble Wrap Stencil over the oval opening and blended again with the same green ink family, using the darker shades. I love how the ink even blended through the stitch lines of the masking paper to show on the finished card panel. After removing all the masking paper, I stamped a sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower set with Obsidian Black ink, and splattered on some more of the green paint I’d used to paint the leaves with. I trimmed the card panel on all four sides, matted it with a piece of black and white striped patterned paper and adhered it to a cardstock card base before adding some coordinating enamel dots.

So here’s more of what you’re dying to know! The Altenew Paint-A-Flower stamp sets are released monthly and celebrate the beauty of a wide variety of flowers! Each stamp set features an outline image of a gorgeous floral arrangement, just waiting to be painted or colored with your favorite medium. There’s no need for you to spend time layering and masking images, as we have designed these sets to allow you to stamp once then color!

You can purchase each set individually here, or you can be assured of receiving each month’s newest release at a discounted price, $12.99 instead of $15.99, by subscribing here.

As with each release blog hop, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by Feb 28, 2020 for a chance to win.
