Altenew May 2020 Stamps/Dies/Stencils Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey, hi! Today is Altenew’s May release blog hop and I’m delighted to be joining in once again! You should be arriving here from Nicole’s blog, but if you’ve happened here by chance, you can click back to the start at the Altenew Card Blog!

I have quite a variety to show you today, all a mix of the products being released today, plus a couple of old ones too!

For my first card, I used the delightful stamp set called Whimsical Flowers and Quotes, stamping with black ink onto white cardstock and coloring with alcohol-based Artist Markers.

The stamp set comes with an assortment of sentiments but for my card, I chose to create a larger sentiment using the Mega Brush Alpha stamp set.

I stamped with embossing ink and heat set with platinum embossing powder, then added a sentiment strip from the Hello and Hugs stamp set from a previous release.

Next up is another card that features the Mega Brush Alpha stamp set.

I began by blending Eastern Sky ink through the Leaves and Berries stencil, then blending more of the same ink over the whole card panel. I let the ink dry completely and brushed an anti-static powder bag over the ink to prevent embossing powder from sticking, then stamped the “you” alphas with embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder.

I added to that a white heat embossed sentiment strip stamped on vellum with the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set. Then some white gouache splatters and a few clear enamel dots to complete the card.

Next, I have two cards that use the Shine Like a Diamond stamp set as well as the Delicate Bouquet stamp set, but in two very different ways.

The first card is stamped with the Shine Like a Diamond background stamp with embossing ink onto navy cardstock and heat set with gold embossing powder. I trimmed that panel slightly smaller than A2 size and matted it with more of the same navy cardstock.

Then I stamped the Delicate Bouquet image onto the same navy cardstock and embossed it in the same way. I cut out the floral image and adhered it over top the diamond card panel for a rich and elegant look. I stamped a combination sentiment from the Delicate Bouquet stamp set onto vellum paper, heat set with more gold embossing powder and wrapped the paper strip around card front before adhering everything to a card base.

Lastly, I used most of the same products as the card above to create a very different Baby card.

I began by stamping the same Shine Like a Diamond stamp with embossing ink onto pale blue cardstock and heat setting with white embossing powder. Then I positioned the Bold Alphabet Die from a long ago release, to spell the word “baby” and die cut the letters. I preserved the inner pieces of the b’s and a to adhere to the card base later.

With the alphabet letters die cut and removed, I chose the best placement of the Delicate Bouquet stamp set to allow the edge of the bouquet image to show through the openings and stamped the front a white cardstock card base. Using the same black ink and white cardstock I also stamped another sentiment strip from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set. I used foam adhesive liberally on the back of the blue card panel, as well as on the center cut-outs of the “bab” part of the word, to elevate the card panel and create a shadow effect over the floral stamp. This design would make a sweet shaker card as well!

That’s it for me for this month’s release, but your next stop on the hop is Reiko’s blog. Below you will find the complete blog list in case you get lost anywhere along the way.
