Technique Tuesday Window Scene Card

Hi, hello! I shared a few Technique Tuesday projects a week or so back, and I have one more to share today before a fresh lot of products arrive in the mail and new projects get started!

This card was created using the cute die set called Window Scene. It includes the kitty that can be colored to look like any breed you like, the flower pot, window frame and a couple of different options for window dressing. Super cute and full of possibilities!

I began by die cutting the kitty and flower pot from white, 110 lb cardstock and coloring them with Copic markers. I used some googled clip art images to give me coloring ideas for the cat. Then I die cut the window frame from brown textured cardstock and the “fabric” blinds from a patterned paper scrap in my stash.

To emphasize the subtle lines and impressions made by the die, I shaded the woodgrain on the window frame and the folds in the curtain, with similarly colored Copic markers. (I added the black pen marks on the window frame myself, with a multiliner pen).

I chose a subtly-patterned paper for the “wallpaper” surrounding the window frame and hand-cut an opening in it so I could stamp my sentiment directly onto the folded card base front. I used a sentiment from the Life in Progress stamp set and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I popped up the window frame and curtain with foam tape for added dimension. I left off any further embellishments to allow the die cuts and sentiment to shine on their own.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
