Spellbinders/FSJ Mini Envelope Cards

Hi, hello! I have some fun cards to share today that exceed the boundaries for sweet and delightful! I mean, c’mon. Tiny baby envelopes? Can anything be cuter??

As you may remember, Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey recently merged and together they have an extensive product catalogue that you will lose a surprising amount of time perusing! And good luck narrowing your choices before clicking Add To Cart!

Today I want to share the first of several fun projects that came out of the products they sent me to play with.

For today’s cards, I played with the FSJ’s Baby Envelope die and the Mini Greetings stamp set. I die cut 4 envelopes from patterned paper scraps and folded them up, leaving the glueing-closed step for later. I chose patterned papers that were small in scale and that were cute and coordinating since both sides show.

The next step was to cut a strip of vellum that measures 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and score it at every inch from the bottom, going up 4 inches. Before folding on the score lines, I placed the vellum strip in the MISTI and positioned 4 of the sentiment stamps from the Mini Greetings set, one on each of the scored sections leaving the bottom section blank.

Depending on which envelope and background paper I was pairing the vellum message strip with, I heat embossed with either white or black embossing powder. Then I folded the sections in fan fashion, making sure all edges and folds aligned perfectly and trimmed the top section with angle cuts to match the envelope edge (just eyeballed it) and adhered a small die cut heart for a “handle” – something to hold when you pull the finished strip out of the envelope. I ran some adhesive along the back of the bottom section of the vellum strip and adhered it to the inside of the envelope, and then used some liquid adhesive to glue the bottom flap of the envelopes closed with the vellum message strip folded and tucked inside.

Two of the envelopes I wrapped with black embroidery thread, and the other two, with some FSJ Natural Thread. I love the weight of this thread and will be ordering more in alllll the colors!

Finally, I adhered each of the envelopes to the card fronts, either directly to patterned paper panels, or die cut square mats, or centered inside embossed frames. A couple of the cards got extra “love” with additional die cut hearts glued on, and a couple I left clean and simple. Once the adhesive is dry and firm, the vellum strip can easily be pulled out and refolded and inserted back into the envelopes.

I love the assorted sentiments in the Mini Greetings set because the various combinations cover so many different reasons for sending a card, from thanks, birthday and thinking of you, to no-reason-at-all-just-wanted-you-to-know-I-love-you and have-a-nice-day!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope your day is like the last day of work before a 2 week vacation!
