I don’t get as much of a chance to play with “critter” stamp sets as I do with the florals, so when I do, I am over the moon! And Reverse Confetti does critters so well!! For my first card, I stamped the lion on some masking paper and cut it out. I did all my stamping with pale beige Distress ink so that I could do a no-line coloring technique without losing the details, and so that the ink could reactivate and be mixed into the painted images when touched by the brush. I stamped the lion first, onto some watercolor paper, then masked it, and stamped the kitty and elephant on either side.
Because I’ve seen other card makers do it and get such good results, I decided to paint my scene with Distress inks. I used my mini ink cubes to smoosh color onto a slick white surface and used it as a paint palette.
Because I’m still just learning how to no-line color/paint, and also because I like the “artsy” look of pen & ink, I used a fine liner pen to add some lines back in once I was finished the painting. I also added some pale blue for the sky and grey for the ground so that the critters don’t appear to be hovering on the card front.
And then of course, there’s the punny sentiment! That’ll get me every time!!
My second card is also no-line colored/painted using Distress inks. This image is SO dang cute, I now want all my friends to have babies, or grand babies so I can make this card again and again!
Once again, I stamped onto watercolor cardstock with Antique Linen Distress Ink, then painted the bear sitting on a cloud with other Distress inks. I used Chipped Sapphire Distress ink to paint the night sky and I am wild about the way the pigments in that ink shade blended, separated and dried! Once again, I added back some thin outlines with a fine liner pen.
I used the Oval Window Cover panel to die cut a panel of white cardstock which I mounted with dimensional foam tape to frame the painting and adhere to a folded card base.
