Altenew + The Daily Marker Color Therapy Blog Hop & Giveaway

Hey there, I’m happy to be joining today’s blog hop! Altenew is collaborating with the amazing Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker to inspire crafters to find joy through coloring. Kathy is celebrating her 14th 30 Day Coloring Challenge until the end of November 2019. I love Kathy’s coloring challenges and I always try to participate as much as I can, so I was delighted to participate for this blog hop! It’s so true, coloring is great therapy! You can join in the coloring challenge too by simply taking some Me time, and coloring something, then sharing in on social media with the hashtag #thedailymarker30day.

You should have arrived here from Nenette’s blog, but if you’ve happened here by chance, you can click on the link to start at the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog.

To create my card, I pulled out one of my favorite floral stamp sets, Forever In Love, and stamped it on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I’m not a proficient enough colorer to have mastered the no-line coloring technique, but when I stamp an outline with Evening Gray ink, and color that way, I feel like it looks very similar to no-line coloring.

Please don’t examine my efforts too closely…I have so much room to improve! For the leaves I used a blend of Moss, Olive, Forest Glade and Limestone Artist Markers, and for the blooms, I used Dark Chocolate, Paper Bag, Crimson, Rouge and Blush.

My technique, (if you can call it that) is to begin with the lightest shades and work back to the darkest, then forward to the lighter shades again. Where the areas are really small, I just start dark and work to light. I lost some detail in the very center of the roses, with the tiny petals, so I ended up adding back some lines with a fine tipped black detail pen. I used a very pale shade of warm gray alcohol marker to fill in the background. I stamped one of the sentiments in the Forever In Love stamp set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

To complete the card, I cropped the card panel slightly smaller than an A2 sized card and die cut a stitched rectangle to “frame” the design. I popped up the center portion and adhered it back into it’s opening on the front of a Neenah Desert Storm cardstock card base. Then I added a few Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins to finish it off.

Your next stop on the hop is TaeEun’s blog. Below you’ll find a complete blog hop list in case there are any broken links.

And, as with every Altenew blog hop, there are prizes. Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 5 lucky winners and Kathy from The Daily Maker is also giving away her 5”x7” original watercolor artwork (including a custom frame). Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog by 11/22/2019 for a chance to win.

They’ll also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 11/24/2019.
