I have two cards to share this time, one using the Painted Hummingbirds Stamp and Die set from today’s release, and the other, using the gorgeous Fresh Cut Roses stamp set!
For the first card, using the Fresh Cut Roses stamp set, I stamped with Silver Lake ink onto Altenew watercolor cardstock, for a light and delicate effect.
I painted with the Altenew 36 Pan Watercolor paints, trying to add appropriate shading and highlights to produce a no-line watercolored painting.
I used a loose and not-very-careful painting style, overlapping shades of paint as previous layers dried. I stamped a double-stamp sentiment from the Fresh Cut Roses stamps set and heat embossed with Platinum embossing powder.
To complete the card, I splattered the card front with leftover paint speckles, trimmed the four sides slightly smaller than an A2 card and adhered it to a pale gray cardstock and added some flat clear sequins for additional sparkle!
For my next card featuring the Painted Hummingbirds, I included some previously released Altenew products to help the Hummingbirds really shine!
I happened to have an already stamped, but not yet painted card panel in my Statement Flowers stamp package, so I pulled it out and added some very muted, and indistinct color to it. I wanted the background to truly stay in the background so that the birds could have all the attention, but I also wanted to keep with the “Impressionistic” style of the Hummingbirds. I used the same 36 Pan Watercolors for this step. The image was originally stamped with Limestone ink.
To create the Hummingbirds, I inked up the stamps with several colors at once, stamping various sections and only slightly overlapping the colors.
Then I misted the stamps with water before I closed the MISTI door and stamped the birds. I left the door closed, and the stamp on the watercolor paper for a couple of minutes to really let the paint soak in. The more water I spritzed on the stamps, the more the colors ran together and blended.
Once the hummingbirds were dry, I die cut them plus 2 more layers of each bird. I stacked them an adhered them together for extra dimension. I added the suggestion of details with some ink “scribbles” using a permanent fine liner pen.
As well, I die cut and adhered together, two layers of each of the Fine Frames Square Dies. To add further focus to the Hummingbirds, I layered the square die cut frames onto the painted flowers, then adhered the birds over top of that. Once again, I finished with some flat clear sequins.
That’s my projects for today’s blog hop, but there’s still plenty more to see! Your next stop on the hop is Christine’s blog and should you get lost along the way, you can refer back to the complete blog hop list down below.
