Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Rose Release Blog Hop

Hello friends, I’m joining Altenew today for the Craft-A-Flower: Rose release and blog hop! (I also have a Greetery post today, so if you’re looking for that, click here.) You should be arriving here from Kelly’s blog, but if you’ve happened here by chance, you can click back to the beginning of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog and not miss a thing.

I made two cards with the same set of die cuts, varying the design layout and building the layers from the assorted colors of cardstock in my stash.

I wanted very soft and subtle colors layered together to create the rose, so I had to do some of my own color mixing for the two darkest layers.

For this card, I die cut the leaves and bottom layers of the rose with textured cardstocks in my stash, and the top two layers are plain white cardstock that I ink blended with Altenew Crisp Dye inks and the Altenew Blending Tool. (Love this tool!) I used a mix of shades and inks in the Tea Party ink set.

For the 2nd card though, the darker two layers of the rose are painted watercolor paper. That’s often how I end up making multiple cards – I try a few different ways of executing a technique, end up with more pieces than one card needs, and what are you gonna do??

For the leaves, I simple die cut all of the layers from a wide variety of shades of green card stocks in my cut offs bin, and assembled them in mostly random ways. I used a greeting in the Fragile Foliage stamp set for this card, stamping with clear embossing ink and heat setting Platinum embossing powder. I combined more cut-offs of patterned papers in my stash to create a background card panel, and accented with a matching narrow strip of green cardstock.

The gray card is much the same as it’s companion above, except that I chose a background of grey patterned papers that allow the pink rose to really pop! The sympathy greeting is also from the Fragile Foliage stamp set but this time is heat set with silver embossing powder. Both cards get a variety of green enamel dots to support the variety of greens in the leaves.

Your next stop on the hop is Keisha’s blog. At the end of this post you will also find the complete blog hop list for in case you encounter any broken links.

And as always, there are prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog by 10/12/2020 for a chance to win.  They will also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew Winners Page on 10/15/2020.
