Hello, hi! I’m happy to be joining the Altenew Blog Hop today for the Poppy Craft-A-Flower release! This set is SO lovely!! If you’re following the hop, you should be arriving here from Emily Midgett’s blog, but if not, you can click back to the start at the Altenew Card Blog.
I made two cards for today’s hop, and this time, instead of watercoloring the die cuts before assembling as I often do, I decided to try ink blending! (I love the Altenew Blending Tools, both large and small, so much that I look for opportunities to blend ink now where I once approached the technique with a little trepidation.
To make things quick and simple, I created both cards very much alike, only varying the ink blends, and the physical arrangement of the flowers.
I used the Tea Party ink family to blend the 4 layers of each flower on this card, and a mix of shades of the Green Fields and Tropical Forest ink families to blend on the leaves and stem. I used Classic Crest Solar white cardstock because it accepts ink blending very nicely! Then I glued all the layers of the flowers and leaves together and positioned them in a tall, elegant arrangement on the right hand side of the card.
I used the Handwritten Hello die to die cut the greeting from heavy black cardstock and adhered it overtop of the flower stems.
I used the Cherry Blossom ink family to color the layers of the flowers on my second card.
For the background of both cards, I stamped a piece of watercolor cardstock with the Dainty Swiss Dots stamp and heat set with clear embossing powder. Then I painted a pale, patchy background with green/blue watercolor paint.
The greeting on this card is made with the Bold Thanks Die set and is made up of layers of pale blue cardstock against a watercolor cardstock background die cut. Each of the cards is completed with enamel dots in coordinating shades.
