Card #1:
I’m going to start with my favorite product of this release, the Curio: Spring Findings set. Along with the Summer Findings, Autumn Findings, Confections Dies and Attic Ornaments, we can add the Spring Findings! I love when a few products stretch themselves to coordinate with others!
I kept my card simple this time, not creating the framed box that I did previously, but keeping the design and color palette light and springy. I started by die cutting the Curio: Divider and Details II – because it matched the sizes of the items I planned to use.
With the exception of the bird and stamp, which are stamped on white cardstock, the rest of the “findings” are die cut from watercolor cardstock and painted with watercolor paint. The eggs in the nest about do me in!!
The stamped postage stamp is from the previously released Pretty Postmarks stamp set and the bird is from another previously release set called Robin and Wren.
After die cutting the Curio Divider and Details frame, I popped out the rectangle inserts and ink blended each one in a fresh, springy color. All inks are from Altenew and are listed as follows: Limeade, Pistachio, Sand Dunes, Mint Choc, Blue Berry, Frayed Leaf.
After painting each of the die cuts and letting them dry, I adhered the layered ones together, then glued them to the blocks in the Curio card panel. I stamped a greeting from the Curio Labels stamp set and die cut it with a banner die from the Sentiment Suite Basics dies set.
Card #2:
Next, I have a card that showcases the BotaniCuts: Pussy Willow dies. The set includes 3 different branches consisting of two layer – the branch, overlaying the buds and leaves layer. I made two of each size/shape, die cutting from watercolor cardstock again and painting to look like actual Pussy Willows. (I’m imagining the fun of painting the buds all the colors of jelly beans to look like a jelly bean tree! Check back for that soon.)
I free-hand painted a rectangle shape on the front of a slimline watercolor card panel and let it dry. Then I went back and splattered the card panel and let it dry.
I stamped a bottled from the previously released Bottled Up stamp set and used an Xacto knife to cut slits that the branches could be inserted into and behind, in a effort to look like you can see the branches through the glass bottle. I made two “real” branches poke down and added a third with a paint brush.
If you look closely you can even see the flocking that I added to some of the Pussy Willow buds! The “hello” greeting is from the Spring Mix stamp set, revealed yesterday, and is stamped with Versafine ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.
Card #3:
My last card features two of the products in today’s reveal – the Botanicuts: Crocus and the Amen & Alleluia stamp and die sets.
Once again, I die cut the shapes of the Crocus BotaniCuts from watercolor paper and, inspired by a picture on the internet I painted the pieces with all the possible colors that Crocuses can be – a little purple, a little yellow, some lavender blue. I made sure not to let the yellow run into the purple and blue too much or brown would be the result.
Once dry, I used a ball tip stylus and a soft mouse pad to press into the flower petals and give them the shape of either curling into the flower center or outward around it. I glued all the layers together, including the grass stems and positioned them on the front of a landscape oriented A2 sized card panel.
I die cut the “alleluia” word from watercolor cardstock and painted it the same colors as I used on the Crocuses. I set that aside to dry completely and die cut the shadow word from vellum. (I can’t believe I missed the tittle of the i before I took the photos! You’ll be happy to know it was located and adhered and looks as it should now.)
I stamped one of the corresponding sentiments from the Amen and Alleluia stamp set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
