Hello there! I’m here today and participating in the first of a new series of monthly releases – the Mini Delights! Typically it will be a 2×3″ stamp set with a coordinating die (or die set) and the images are very versatile, running the gamut from floral to geometric to sentiments and more! I’m super-excited by them and love this first release so much!
You should be arriving here from Nathalie’s blog, but if not, you can start the hop from the beginning by clicking back to the Altenew Card Blog so you don’t miss anything today!
The first Mini Delight is this 2-part feather image with accompanying sentiment and coordinating die.
I made two cards with the Mini Delights: Strength stamp and die set this month. There is actually also a layered stamp image for the tip of the feather that I didn’t use this time but I’m excited to try it in future.
My first card features a strip of vellum paper stamped repeatedly with the feather outline image and heat set with rose gold embossing powder. Then I used the Altenew Artist markers in shades of red and pink to color and blend on the back side of the vellum.
I then adhered the edges of the vellum strip to the front of a card base and hid those edges behind another layer of white cardstock with some pink cardstock trim, and popped up with fun foam behind.
I stamped the sentiment from this Mini Delights Set onto a narrow vellum band and heat set with more rose gold embossing powder, then wrapped it around the outside edges of the top layers of cardstock. Some pink pearl enamel dots and gold rhinestones complete this card.
For my next card, I used the coordinating die to die cut three openings in a white cardstock card panel.
With the die cut card panel aligned perfectly over a folded card base, I was able to position the feather stamp into the die cut openings and using a stamp positioning tool, I stamped each of the three images in turn, heat embossing with silver, platinum and gold embossing powder. I used matching shades of Artist markers to color in the feathers.
I stamped the sentiment again, with Obsidian Black Ink, then covered the back of the card panel with more foam tape and adhered it to the card base. Because I thought of the thin jute cord too late, it’s tied around the entire card, like a little gift, and can be slid off or untied to open the card itself. Next time I’ll think ahead better and wrap it around the card panel only!
I finished the card with some gold and tan enamel dots as well as some of the new (to me?) Stone Nuvo Drops that dries dull and textured and is kind of cool!
