Hi there friends! I’m joining the Altenew blog hop today to showcase the very lovely Paint-a-Flower: Rose! This is the kind of floral image I love best and it’s just a delight to create cards with this month’s release!
You have likely arrived here from the Altenew Scrapbook Blog, but if not, please click back to the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog so that you don’t miss any of the beautiful inspiration we have for you today!
For my first card today, I stamped the image with black ink onto watercolor paper and painted it using the recently released 24 pan Watercolor Paint Set.
I used a mix of yellows and reds to create the pink and coral shades for these roses, and some of the blues and greens to create the colors for the leaves and background.
Once painted and dry, I fussy cut the top portion of the image and trimmed the bottom portion to fit onto an A2 sized card. I stamped a sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower: Rose set and popped up the stamped and painted image with foam tape and adhered it to a background of text stamped watercolor paper. A few iridescent sequins to match the lavender colored flowers complete this card.
The second card I am sharing today shows that you don’t have to be a painter or colorer (colorist?) to enjoy using this stamp set!
For a quick and easy but very impactful way to use this image, I stamped onto vellum paper and heat embossed with white embossing powder. As with the card above, I fussy cut around the top edge of the stamped image and positioned the remainder of the vellum paper to fit along the left and bottom edges of the card panel.
I used an all-over spray adhesive on the back of the vellum so that you wouldn’t see patches of adhesive through the vellum anywhere, and adhered it to the trimmed down blue cardstock card panel .
Mental Note* If I were to make this card again though….rather than spray the entire piece of vellum with spray adhesive, I would make the paper enough bigger that I could simply fold over the sides and bottom around the cardstock and not have to add any adhesive to paper on the front at all!
I added a sentiment from the Rennie Roses stamp set and some randomly matched flat sequins from my stash.
This is a monthly subscription plan for the Paint-A-Flower set.
