You Are My Sunshine Weather Dies Cards – Technique Tuesday

Hey, hello! I’m back today with a couple of late-to-the-party cards using Technique Tuesday kits from July – the Fresh Cut Studio Weather Craft Dies and the Memory Keepers sentiment stamps!

I love a sweet and simple rainbow-and-clouds card so that’s what I set about to create today!

I began by die cutting all the shapes in the Weather Craft Dies set from 110lb white cardstock and coloring them with Copic markers.

For both the rainbow die cuts and the open letters in the greeting, I colored with RV14/R32, YR02, Y02, YG05, B52 and BV01.

I ink-blended the blue sky background onto the front of a folded card base, then positioned the sun and rainbow and adhered them to the card base. I die cut the stitched rectangle opening from an A2 sized cardstock, stamped, heat embossed and colored the greeting before backing the card panel with foam tape on the back and adhering it to card base. Then I added the clouds with more foam tape to keep them at the same height as the window panel.

The second card is much the same as the first, with the front of a folded card base ink blended to provide the blue sky background.

This time I die cut the front panel with a stitched circle die and stamped and heat embossed another sentiment from the You Are My Sunshine stamp set.

I positioned and adhered the rainbow, one cloud and the raindrops onto the card base, tucking the rainbow in behind the edge of the circle frame and adding the second cloud to the top layer and I colored the open letters of the greeting in a blue gradation.
