Hello friends! It’s the day you’ve all been waiting for! Day 1 of The Greetery’s November release! It’s called Winter Wanderer and it’s full of the most delightful components with a fun Boho vibe! Let’s jump right in shall we?
You’re most likely arriving here from Kelly’s blog but if not and you want to see EVERYthing, there is a complete hop list at the end of this post.
Today we are revealing these sets:
- Catching Snowflakes stamp set
- Catching Snowflakes die
- Hoop Wreath stamp set + die
- Hoop & Fringe die
I’m going to share my favorite first! I have been WAITing to play with this fun Catching Snowflakes + Hoop and Fringe die combo! Oh, and also the Shiplap Builder die set from last release that didn’t get to me in time! (Boo Canada Post). Also SUCH a great set!!
So, I die cut and ink-blended all the pieces in the Hoop & Fringe die set, along with the Catching Snowflakes die, PLUS the shiplap boards. Everything (the “yarn” and boards) got a soft cream/gray tint for a neutral background with lots of texture but not so much color that the sweet Hoop Wreath stamped and die cut pieces did not have to compete!
I find the quickest way to knock out a bunch of flowers and leaf pieces is to die cut a stack of white blanks first. Then I used the negative die cut space as a “jig” of sorts, inserting the unstamped die cuts one after another into the opening and doing assembly line stamping. It’s so much easier to get a nice lined up stamped die cut that way, than by stamping first and wiggle-jiggling and hoping the die is perfectly aligned before cutting.
Edited to add ink colors – all from Altenew:
Chamomile and Snapdragon from the Golden Sunset set.
Ruby Red and Grapevine from the Red Cosmos set.
Coral Bliss and HeartBeat from the Tea Party set.
Evening Gray and Moonrock for the “berries” from the Warm Gray set.
For the “greens” I stamped with Frayed Leaf (Green Fields set) first, then over stamped with Cloudy Sky (Tranquility set).
After all the layers were stamped I did augment a little with Copic markers, just to add a little more definition. (It might also fall in the “can’t leave well enough alone” category, I don’t know.) I stamped and die cut the thank you sentiment from the Hoop Wreath stamp set, and adhered it over top the fringe. Pretty straight forward, and big impact!
My second card today is more CAS (clean and simple) than my usual style, but I kind of love that! I used the Catching Snowflakes stamp and die set to die cut the “spirographic” snowflake design then used it as a mask/stencil. I ink blended the color most deeply over the snowflake design, lightening out towards the edges of the card panel.
Then I stamped with bright cherry red, one of the circular sentiments in the Catching Snowflakes stamp set, shifting it around three times to complete the circle.
When the inks were all dry enough to prevent embossing powder from sticking (overnight to be safe) I stamped the two snowflakes in the Catching Snowflakes set plus one other small snowflake from the Snowflake Soiree stamp set from the last Greetery release. I stamped with Versamark and heat set with silver embossing powder.
To balance to red sentiment ink, I used the Painterly Stripes red rubber background stamp with the same red ink, and stamped “candy cane” stripes on the folded card base. I shifted the stamp once to add a second row of stripes in between the first set of stripes. Then, to complete the card, I added some dark red enamel dots to the snowflake centers and called it good! I popped up the card panel with foam tape and adhered it to the card base.
