Hello friends, I’m back today to share a project made with the new stamp set called We Stand With You, being released today by The Stamping Village. As you are probably aware, The Stamping Village is a collective of 12 separate, but like-minded stamp companies that regularly collaborate to produce stamp sets that are creative, inspiring and useful.
It’s also likely too, that you are aware of the racial injustice issues that are finally being widely spotlighted, and of the opportunities we all have to stand up for and with our brothers and sisters who have long been forced to live with system racism and implicit biases. I am so proud to be connected with companies like Altenew and The Stamping Village, and to be part of an industry willing to hear hard things and not turn away from the difficulty of recognizing our part in allowing these systems to stand unchecked, and unlearning ideas and beliefs that perpetuate racism.
The sentiments and images on this stamp set are inspiring and hopeful and as part of a pledge by The Stamping Village to donate $10,000 for racial justice, 100% net profits from every We Stand With You stamp set sold will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
The card I made with this stamp set uses the Hero Arts image with the Altenew sentiment. I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored the image with Prismacolor coloring pencils.
You maybe also know that 17th 30-Day Coloring Challenge is currently going on, and while I haven’t been participating, I have been inspired daily by all the talented color-ists out there! I need to spend more time with colored pencils to learn how to get the beautiful, smooth results they can give, but for now, this is what I made for the release.
I masked off the sentiment below the group of people so I could add the Altenew sentiment. After coloring the image on the front of a folded Neenah card base, I found some matching patterned paper from which I die cut an opening using the Nesting Labels dies from Altenew. Then I popped up the patterned paper, centering the stamped and colored image and adhered it to the card base. Very simple but impactful.
