Technique Tuesday – Dani Deer Cards

Hi, hello! I have the deer-est couple of cards to share with you today! Sorry, but puns! Who can resist? It’s one of the things I love best about Technique Tuesday designs. They kill it with the puns. Every time. And the set I’m showcasing today uses puns to take a “traditionally” Christmas themed image and stretch it’s use to so many other occasions; belated and/or on-time birthday, get well soon, happy new year and friendship! What’s not to love about that!?

I used the Dani Deer and Hello Winter stamp sets with the matching dies for the deer. I used alcohol markers to color the deer from the Dani Deer set and die cut them when finished. I also stamped and colored the scarf from the Hello Winter set and fussy cut it to make it fit on the deers’ necks.

To create this card, I die cut the colored deer and adhered the colored scarf overtop. I cut a “hilly” piece of Eclipse masking paper and softly blended a blue background to create the impression that Dani is standing on a snowy foreground. I carried the ink blending in the background up to the sky so that the die cut clouds (Paper Smooches) would really pop.

I stamped the sentiment from the Dani Deer stamp set onto colored card stock to match the ink blending, heat embossed it and added stitch lines around with a Copic fine tipped pen. I cut the little kraft banner and tucked it behind. And as quickly and simply as that, this card is finished!

The second card is the same as the first in terms of coloring the deer and die cutting it, except that I die cut 3 more layers of card stock to adhere behind the colored deer to give it some extra dimension. I colored and cut the scarf by hand to make it fit the deer. I also die cut a stitched square from white card stock, using a Reverse Confetti die as well as some snowflakes with a die from Memory Box, called Breezy Snowflakes.

I stamped the sentiment on the lower half of the card base and then adhered each of the other elements above. Once again, it’s a quick and simple, but utterly delightful card. And since we’re still in the depths of winter in so many places, these cards feel perfectly suitable to make and give! Thank you so much to Technique Tuesday for providing such great products to play with, and to y’all for stopping by today! Have a great rest of your day!
