Hey, hi! It’s getting close to that time of year again, when spooks and ghouls roam the streets and candy is the name of the game! I have some cards to share made using the Spellbinder’s September Small Die kit called Eek-A-Boo! It’s a set that can make up all sorts of cute Hallowe’en costumes and I used them to make a ghost, a Frankenstein and a skeleton. Wooooo, scary, right?!
I die cut all of the pieces from Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock because I wanted to color the pieces myself using Arteza water brush markers.
I layered the pieces and glued them together to create individual trick-or-treaters. I modified the full body die cut to create the ragged shirt and pants of the Frankenstein, and used one of the skeleton bones to make the “bolts” coming out of his head.
Is there anything scarier than a ghost with no arms? I’d say a floating, body-less pumpkin bucket maybe! I gave the ghost black and white Mime legs because it just seemed like the thing to do. I also added a moon to the card, by die cutting with two circle dies from another die set.
For each of the backgrounds, I colored with dark shades of Arteza real brush markers, then using a water brush to blend and lighten the colors. I sprinkled flecks of water onto the background and removed the color with a paper towel, as well as adding splatters of white gouache paint.
