Spellbinders Sending Love Card

Hello there, I’m popping in today to share my December Spellbinder’s project, a comfort/encouragement/any reason card! This month the Small Die of the Month Club kit is made up of a variety of word dies that you can mix and match and pretty much customize your project any way you need!

I can pretty much guarantee you’ll be seeing this die set again and again, it’s just so versatile with it’s lovely scripty font style!

To create this card, I started by painting the bottom 4/5ths of an A2 sized watercolor paper card panel with Blackberry from the Prima Watercolor Confections – Decadent Pies. It’s beautiful intense color made even more beautiful and intense by adding layers of pigment one upon another. While it was drying, I added some splatters of diluted white gouache paint, some diluted Blackberry color and some clean water splatters that I soaked up with a paper towel, leaving some pale splats behind.

Once my paper was good and dry, I pounced it with my anti-static powder bag to make sure no embossing granules stuck anywhere I didn’t want them, then stamped a variety of images from the Fun Stampers Journey Flower Swirls stamp set, and gold heat embossed. I stamped in three stages to get the images close together.

Next, I cut a narrow strip of gold paper, and die cut the words “sending” and “love” from gold foil cardstock. I layered and adhered the paper strip over the painted edge and the stamped, heat embossed image, then layered the word die cuts over that. It’s busy, but I love the localized detail that draws your attention to the sentiment and is calmed by the “white space” elsewhere.

I used a fine tipped Gina K Connects adhesive to glue down the finely cut word die cuts. It’s a pretty basic card made interesting with the dark paint colors and the “crowded” but contained design in gold!

The December Small Die of the Month kit can be found here all month at a discounted subscription rate. Be sure to check it out and notice the variety of other clubs available, including these Value Clubs.
