Spellbinders March Die of the Month Cards & Giveaway

Hi, hello! Today I’m here to show you the cute cards that came from this month’s Small Die of the Month Club kit from Spellbinders! It’s called 24 Carrot and I used it to make a Welcome Baby card, as well as a “what’s up?” card! Be sure to check out the giveaway at the end of this post and find out how you could win this die set!

The 24 Carrot March kit includes 9 dies that could be used for Easter, spring, baby, shower, or other occasions and I used all but the large egg die for my cards today.

For the first card I used both the standing and the laying down bunny and die cut all of the pieces from watercolor cardstock so that I could paint them before assembling my card scenes. I used Altenew watercolor paints for my projects today.

I die cut several of the stalks and painted them in shades of green, using a combination of flowers from this month’s kit plus some flower dies from the Love kit from last month.

I created the scene by painting a sky and grass background onto a watercolor card panel, and added some paint splatters. Then I painted shadows on the white bunnies, as well as pink noses and cheeks and adhered the pink ears before arranging them among the plants and flowers. I painted the die cut “what’s up” sentiment pale grey and added it to the assembled card design.

I did the coloring on the second card lighter than the first, reminding me of a vintage Beatrix Potter illustration, by adding more water to the paint, then adding a second layer of color where I needed there to be darker shadows. I began by stamping a background of “vegetation” with stamps from the Spellbinders/Fun Stampers Journey – Flower Swirls stamp set. I heat set with white embossing powder, then watercolor painted the green leaves and the background sky and ground around them.

As above, I painted and assembled the bunny pieces, then added it to the background. I die cut and painted the flowers and stems from this month’s set and added them over top of the bunny to complete the scene. The sentiment is from this Simon Says Stamp Baby set. To complete this card I added paint speckles with diluted black paint.
