Simon Says Stamp Rainbows Release Blog Hop – Day 2

Hello, hi! Welcome back! Today I’m joining the Simon Says Stamp Day 2 blog hop (check out Day 1 here) to show case some of the beautiful and amazing products being released this month! I shared the first card from this release back here, in case you missed it. You should be arriving from Koren Wiskman’s blog and if not, simply click back to the start of the hop at the Simon Says Stamp Blog.

I have two cards to share today, both made with the Delicate Outline Flowers background cling stamp. I love these kinds of large open designs that work so well for watercolor painting or any other kind of coloring. And I love how the large 6” square design means that you can get a variety of designs simply by shifting the position of the A2 sized card panels!

My first card is a fun technique where you stamp one piece of cardstock then a second in the exact same position, then cut them to overlap and perfectly align with one another.

I stamped first on watercolor cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat set with clear embossing powder, then again on a gray/green textured cardstock.

On the watercolor paper, I painted the flowers with Mijello Mission Gold paints, using a muted color palette achieved by adding a little black or brown to the brighter shades of paint.

Once the panel was painted and dry, I trimmed it to align with the colored cardstock and adhered both to a folded card base. I die cut the Congrats On A Line (from the May release) from black gloss cardstock and adhered it on the trim line separating the two cardstocks. A few small enamel dots finish the card.

My second card is also stamped on watercolor paper, but is heat embossed with Platinum embossing powder this time. This version is brighter and more carefree in it’s messy painting style and makes a lovely choice for a birthday card.

I painted with all the colors in the palette – Mijello Mission Gold again – not taking any special care to “properly” shade or highlight, and letting the heat embossed lines collect color in their individual “reservoirs”. I stamped the sentiment from the Clean Line Everyday stamp set and stamped onto a scrap of watercolor paper which I then die cut with the coordinating die.

I die cut 3 more layers of cardstock and layered them together, then glued it to the card panel. I added some crystal clear drops and this card is finished.

I love the versatility of a stamp, that just by a simple change of color scheme, you can produce two cards with such different looks!

Your next stop on the hop is Tina Smith’s blog, but before you go there are a couple of things I want to point out. That “ENVIES” code in the graphic at the start of this post is for you! Use that when you check out to receive a pack of holographic envelopes!

Here is the link to today’s release, for your shopping convenience! Also, did you know that there are galleries for releases? Go to the Rainbows Gallery for more ideas of ways to use the products being released today, and then, once you have your new product, please post your own work for us to be inspired by!

And finally prizes! Simon Says Stamp is giving away one $25 coupon to each stop on the hop, drawn from the blog comment section on each blog. Simon Says Stamp will draw the winners and post the list on their blog on Wednesday, the 9th of June. The winners can email SSS to claim his/her prize 🙂
