Simon Says Stamp Lucky to Know You!

Hello friends! I’m happy to be back today with some cards that I made using one of the fun new stamp sets being released right now at Simon Says Stamp, called Spring Gnomes!

As usual, I couldn’t get stopped. Whatcha gonna do?

There are three cute little gnomes in this stamp set with several great sentiments in either a fun font or a beautiful script.

For each of today’s cards, I stamped the images onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock because I was in the mood to use my Arteza Real Brush Pens! That’s the best paper for water-based real-brush markers because it allows the color to sit on the surface long enough to get a nice blend rather than soaking in quickly and refusing to budge!

For the first card, I also stamped a leafy branch from the Be Kind stamp set, colored it with the Artezas again and fussy cut it out. I combined the colored and hand cut gnome and leaves with some black cardstock die cuts and a mix of patterned papers and stitched rectangle die cut vellum. The “Spring Greetings” sentiment is one of my favorites from the Spring Gnomes set. For some added interest I drew pinstripes on this birdie-lovin’ gnome’s…..dress gown robes…SHIRT!

For the “all ears” card, after coloring and fussy cutting out the floppy eared gnome, I combined it with more Be Kind stamp set leaves and black cardstock die cut leaves.

The background of this card is made using the Love You More background stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I achieved the rough, organic shape of the background stamp by inking up that particular spot on the stamp, then using a clean dry cloth to rub the ink off the edges and stamping it once onto some scratch paper and the 2nd time on the card panel.

I stamped a fun saying from the Spring Gnomes set onto some pretty patterned paper, creating a sentiment strip that runs across the width of the A2 sized card, and bordered with some coordinating blue and black cardstocks. I trimmed the card panel by 1/4″ on all four sides to reveal the grey cardstock mat and popped up the gnome itself (on this card as well as the other two) with foam tape behind, to give extra dimension.

And finally, I have the little girl-gnome stamped and colored/painted with Arteza pens, hand cut and popped up with foam tape. She is positioned against a background where the middle of the card is partially stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Mod Flowers background stamp set, heated with white embossing powder, and blended with Forest Glade and Iceberg inks from Altenew. For some extra detail I added pink polkadots to her green dress with a waterbased fine tip pen.

I used more of the Love You More background stamp set, stamping one edge of the stamp along the left side of the background card panel after being heat embossed and ink blended. I added another of the hand-scripted sentiments stamped in Versafine Onyx black ink, and finished off this card with a few matching enamel dots!

There are such adorable images in this stamp set and I love the variety of sentiments included!
