Hey friends! I’m joining Altenew today for an Instagram Blog Hop to showcase the latest Mini Delight release: Bold Bloom, but I wanted to share my project here as well where I can tell you more about it!
In case you haven’t seen these sets yet, let me fill you in. This is a monthly release of a 2″x3″ stamp set with a coordinating die/die set. It’s a classic scenario of “tiny but mighty!”, so don’t underestimate the beauty and versatility of these sets! They definitely pack a punch and can be used in any kind of handmade project. The Mini Delight is a monthly subscription club, and beyond meeting the subscription demands, is sold only while supplies last.
For the first card, I stamped the image onto white cardstock using alcohol marker-friendly ink. It took but a minute to color up this sweet little bouquet with Artist Markers and when finished, I used the coordinating die to die cut it.
I loved the bold look of the stamped image and bright coloring, so I chose to play off that with patterned paper from the Essential Black and White Paper Pack.
I cut a band of dark patterned paper to run along the top and balanced it against a larger pattern with more white. To draw the eye to the flower and keep it there, I cut a narrow strip of red cardstock that matched the flowers and adhered it under the die cut image. I used the sentiment from the Bold Bloom stamp set and stamped it along the the bottom for visual balance. A few red enamel dots finish the card.
I made two cards for today’s post, virtually the same except for a couple of minor details. Whereas on the first card, the outline is stamped in a strong black outline, I chose to stamp off for a 2nd generation stamping technique and a faded gray outline to color in.
Then, to match the pale outline, I used the lightest colors of Artist Markers and the difference from the first card above to this one is subtle and beautiful! Once colored, I die cut the image and assembled my card much like the first one.
I found these patterned papers in my scrap stash and thought the pale gray colors really complimented the pale gray stamped outline, so I paired them together by tearing across the gray plaid and layering it over the gray woodgrain paper with the visual weight towards the bottom rather than the top. More enamel dots coordinate and complete the card.
