Hi y’all! I’m up on the Jane’s Doodles blog today with a couple of crazy colored cards!
Whoa, right?? I know! I’ll tell you how it came about to use all these colors not in my regular rotation! I was sorting water-based markers in my drawer – dried from still good, and they were all laying about helter-skelter, on my table top and I got a wild hair to use as many as I could on one project without it looking toooo crazy! I’m not sure I succeeded. It’s a fair challenge to take on.
I used the owl image from the Wise Owl stamp set from Jane’s Doodles and two different leaf images from the Bloom and Hibiscus stamp sets. I colored with my Stampin’ Up markers and because I had stamped onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock, I could use a water brush to move the color around in a watercolor blend.
And check out those bulgy eyes! I filled the circle in the image with Nuvo Crystal Drops in black and before it had a chance to skin over and dry, I touched a very small drop of white into the black so that it would settle in and dry together. They’re really fun in real life! I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Square Frame die to create the frame and popped it up with a frame of fun foam beneath, and stamped the sentiment from the Right at Home Critter Chat stamp set.
Not happy to let one colorful card be enough, I filled another card panel with random feather stamps from the same Wise Owl stamp set and used all the same colored markers to color them in, once again, using the water brush to help the colors blend and flow. To accomplish this, I colored each of the colors onto the Altenew watercolor palette, and used the water brush to pick up the colors and lay them down in each section.
Then! Check it out! I die cut the word “hello” with a Simon Says Stamp die, from all the rainbow colors of card stock and stacked them up to create the sentiment element. And once again, in real life, it looks COOL. I outlined the card panel with a Copic Multi-Liner pen to echo the feather outlines.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your day!
