Altenew October 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi, hello! I’m excited to be joining the Altenew October Release blog hop today! You should arrived here from Vicky Papaioannou’s blog, but if not, click back to the beginning of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog so you don’t miss anything!

There are so many beautiful new products this month and I have several cards to share so lets jump right in!

The first card I want to show you is made using a fun, but also beautiful new stamp set called Delicate Tiles. I’m seeing that vividly patterned tiles are making a comeback in the decorating world so it’s no surprise to see it pop up in paper crafting too! And I’m delighted about this because let me tell you, scratching the Let’s Tile Everything Itch is a lot cheaper when you can do it with stamps and ink over the real thing!

I used inks from the Rock Collection of colors to ink up the 4 layers of this motif. I matted it with a simple black cardstock, stamped a sentiment from the Thank You Builder stamp set in black to match, and adhered the design to a gray cardstock card panel and a white cardstock card base. Very easy, Clean And Simple, and a great option for a masculine card!

Next up are two cards made with the beautiful and clever String Art Heart Die. (speaking of vintage trends making a comeback!)

For the pink toned card, I die cut the heart in the center of the card panel and, using my threaded needle, poked another hole in the upper right side of the heart, then stitched through that hole to each of the perimeter holes.

I added a little wood veneer heart from this Veneer pack overtop the stitched center, then flexed a sentiment stamp from the Sentiment Strips Stamp set to align around the heart shape and heat embossed with Platinum embossing powder. I added a narrow strip of matching pink cardstock to the right side to balance the color of the thread.

For the gray card, I die cut the heart again in the position I wanted on the card panel, then stitched the pattern on one half from the bottom-most hole with white crochet cotton (size 5) and from the top-most hole to the holes on the opposite side with a pearlescent grey shade of embroidery cotton (3 ply).

I added a sentiment from the Faceted Stars stamp set, and heat embossed with Platinum embossing powder.

Finally, I have a couple of cards made with the Winter Wishes stamp set.

For the first card, I stamped the image onto navy cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The Happy Holidays sentiment is included in the Winter Wishes stamp set and I love it’s vintage simplicity.

I used a white Prismacolor coloring pencil to add some shading and subtle details to the frosty winter scene, including smoke drifting from the chimneys! I trimmed one side of the card panel down by 1/4″ and adhered the card panel to a card base letting the white card base peek out on the left hand side. I wanted an interesting change from the standard 1/4″ mat on all four sides, and I think it balances the design in a nice, clean, modern way.

I repeated the stamped design on more gray cardstock and heat embossed with platinum embossing powder again (I kind of have a thing for platinum this week!), using another sentiment from the Winter Wishes stamp set.

This time I added shading and details with a WG01 Artist Marker. And this time I went with my standard 1/4″ border all around, but I wanted a platinum colored paper and couldn’t find anything in my stash to match well enough, so I inked up the edges of the card base with embossing ink and heat set it with MORE platinum embossing powder!

Between design elements and muted color choices, today’s cards are a little bit of a departure from my usual delicately colored florals, but all are very CAS, easy to duplicate and make a bunch of, and showcase the simple beauty of a few of the stamp and die products in this month’s release.
