Hey, hi! How are things? I’m up on the Altenew Card Blog today with a card that shows how you can mix things up and still get it right!
I made this card using a combination of Dot Botanical Stamp and Die Set, Leaf Clusters Stamp and Die Set, Vintage Roses (leaves) Stamp Set, Vintage Flowers (rose) Stamp Set and the Birthday Builder Stamp Set.
I pulled together a group of dissimilar elements but it works because they are united in their color scheme and in the repetition of mod/vintage styles. I used the Rock Collection Ink colors to stamp the leaves, and the new Tranquility Ink colors to stamp the rose. The Dot Botanical leaf spray is stamped onto vellum paper with Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Platinum Embossing Powder and die cut with the coordinating die. I chose the Tranquility Ink colors to coordinate with the blue patterned paper I used for the background. Both patterned papers are from my stash and are old enough that I don’t remember whose they were.
I combined the modern style of the dotted leaves image and the solid stamped leaves with the vintage style leaves and flower and tied the two styles together by choosing one modern font and one “romantic” font for the birthday greeting.
I chose platinum embossing powder for the dotted leaves because the color tone matched the Rock Collection colors so well. You can see a faint glimmer of the metallic shine in the photo above, and it looks even more amazing in real life.
I included a couple of technique tips along with photos in the blog post over at the Altenew Card Blog so be sure to check those out!
Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
