Hey friends, I’m back today for the Altenew release blog hop showcasing a fresh new batch of Washi Tapes! You have probably arrived here from Terri Koszler’s blog, but if not, you can click back to the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog and then you won’t miss anything! Should you encounter a broken link anywhere along the way today, there is a complete blog hop list at the end of this post.
I made two cards for today’s hop. I’m sure you’d agree with me when I say that the Altenew range of Washi Tapes are perfect for making a card in a minute! Each one is so beautiful, and there is such a span of styles that there is something for everyone! All you have to do is stretch a length of washi tape, narrow or wide, across some coordinating cardstock, add a die cut or stamped sentiment and you are good to go! Just as I’ve done here today!
My first card today is the complicated one. (Yes, I’m a smart aleck, grin!) I simply laid a piece of each of the 4 shades of the Sweet Dreams Washi Tape set (perfectly coordinating with the ink family of the same name) onto a piece of white cardstock, with a strip of the Gold Foil Washi Tape separating the bottom two strips.
I just eyeballed the spaces between each strip and stuck it down. Next, I die cut from heavy black cardstock, an outline floral design with the Fine Bouquet Die and added to that, the “thanks” portion of the Framed Thanks Die Set released last month.
I trimmed the word part to butt right up to the flower petal so that they look, at a quick glance, like they are all one die cut.
Once they were glued in place (using a combination of spray adhesive and some strategically placed dots of liquid glue), I trimmed the panel a generous 1/4″ on all four sides, popped up the panel with a piece of fun foam underneath, and added a few black enamel dots to finish things off! Couldn’t be easier!
Or wait, could it?? I daresay, my second card today might be the fastest one I’ve ever made! EV. ER. This beautiful Floral Field Washi Tape is edged on both sides with more gold foil and when it’s laid over black cardstock like this, it almost looks like the tape and the background are all one!
I tried matching the washi tape to other shades of pink and purple cardstock, and they looked nice enough and whatever, but when I laid it on the black cardstock and saw how that made the colors pop, I knew the hunt was over.
I also knew I wanted to emphasize the gold foil edge by adding a sentiment die cut from gold foil too. I first die cut from super shiny gold foil but I didn’t love that quite as much as a piece of “toned down” foil paper I had in my stash (from Michael’s I think probably?) This “hello” die from the Handwritten Hello Die Set is one of my favorites – the thin, fine lines and simple but elegant font is a consistent winner for me, and the fact that it comes with a shadow die is even more awesome!
To complete the card, I simply adhered the sentiment, again, with a mix of spray adhesive and some liquid glue, then added enamel dots in three different shades of violet and purple to coordinate with the watercolor painted flowers in the design.
Your next stop on the hop is Amber’s blog, and I hope you’ll keep hopping to each of the rest of the participating blogs as well, because there are some amazing and creative card projects today! I’m in awe!
To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by March 18, 2020 for a chance to win.
They’ll also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on Mar 21, 2020.
