Hey, hi friends! I’m participating in a blog hop today with Altenew to celebrate the release of the August Craft-A-Flower Layering Die Set – Daisy! You should be arriving here from Lisa’s blog, but if not, you can click back to the Altenew Card Blog where the hop begins and see all the inspiration from the start.
In this die set, there are two different flower blooms with 4 layers each and two sets of leaves – a single leaf and a double leaf set, with 3 layers each. For my card I began by painting a sheet of watercolor paper from the Altenew 9×12 watercolor paper pad, with varying shades of green and yellow/orange paint, then setting it aside to dry. It’s really not necessary, but I used both the 36 pan set of water color paints and the Artist Watercolor 24 pan set to achieve the fullest array of shades possible!
Using the guide provided I die cut the various layers from the appropriate shades of painted watercolor cardstock, and layered them together, adhering with a good, strong liquid adhesive. I find that the texture of this particular watercolor paper that I love so much, also makes it so that the tape runner adhesive I used for regular cardstock doesn’t work as well, but that basic white glue does!
After the adhered layers were set and dry, I arranged the leaf and bloom components to form a pleasing arrangement that I layered over a patterned paper card background. I used a grey patterned paper to allow the brightly hued daisy to really pop, and I stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set with Obsidian Black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
I combined patterns from a coordinating set of papers and used some black cardstock to create a narrow, defined edge to the striped paper strip. With the busy-ness of the background paper I decided not to add any further embellishments, letting that bold, beautiful bloom have center stage!
Your next and last stop on the hop is Emily’s blog. Should you get lost along the way or encounter a broken link, you can refer back here to see the full hop list at the bottom.
