Hello, hi! Welcome to today’s Altenew Dreamy Bouquet Blog Hop! We have something very new and different today from Altenew and I’m SO excited to share it with you! You should be arriving here from Keren Baker’s blog, and if not, simply click back to the start of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog so you don’t miss anything amazing!
Now, on to the surprise!
It’s fabric!!! Were you expecting that? Well, sure, you’ve seen some of the lovely and fantastic projects made already along the blog hop and I have a couple more!
The bundle contains 5 pieces of 18″ x 22″ fabric (fat quarter – a common size for quilters) featuring Altenew motifs. The fabric is quilting cotton making it a versatile choice for crafting, quilting, and more!
I started with coasters. I used the piece of fabric with the largest print pattern – Dreaming in Watercolor – because it provided such a beautiful variety of colors.
I cut squares approximately 3″ square and two layers of wool felt too. The first layer of white slightly larger than the fabric and a second layer of a coordinating color slightly larger than the white. I used pinking shears to cut the felt for a little extra pizzazz!
I added some buttons to adorn and almost as quickly as it’s take me to write this and you to read it, they were finished!
Tied up in a little bundle, they will make a cute hostess gift! If I can bear to part with them!
My next project is a little t-shirt I made for a special little girl in my life! I used the Simple Nesting Flowers Dies to die cut leaves and flowers from the fabrics. I cut the flowers from the large flower print fabric and the leaves from the blue dot and green vines fabrics.
I used some Heat ‘n’ Bond (iron-on fusible adhesive available at any fabric store) to add a little bit of stiffness to the fabric and to make it easy to iron in place on the t-shirt. I found the t-shirt at Hobby Lobby and it was available in a wide array of colors.
Once the design was positioned, all I had to do was iron everything at once to keep it firmly in place. Then I could stitch around the shapes to add texture and interest. I used a disappearing fabric marker to draw the additional leaves and flourishes which I could stitch over.
I think my little dolly girl likes it as much as I do! My hope is that with washings, the edges of the fabric and shapes will fray a little, for a shabby chic look that I particularly love!
