I began creating this card by stamping onto Altenew watercolor paper. I stamped the solid and detail layers with Altenew Crisp Dye inks and added water to the stamped images with a wet paint brush between each stamped layer. Depending on the color of ink, and my speed, the addition of water helped to achieve a watery blended look.

For some of the images I left off the outline stamp, and others I added it. For this card today, I let the top lotus leaf remain indistinct and in the background by not adding the detail of the outline stamp, and by adding that layer to the bottom leaf, it gives the scene some perspective, with the bottom leaf closer and more in focus.

For the pink bloom, I stamped the two detail layers but left the base layer unstamped to keep the white layer and allow a slightly paler color for the finished result. To add to the color cohesiveness, I stamped the outline in the darkest shade of pink ink in the set. When I adhered the bloom to the leaves I used some foam tape behind the top of the bloom, to give it some dimension.

For the background of the lotus flower and leaves, I did a very wet, and drippy wash of blue/green watercolor paints onto more of the same watercolor paper, and let that dry. Once dry, I stamped two of the fish from the Goldfish Pond stamping die set, using the darkest shade of ink in the ____ color family.

I used the MISTI to stamp the greeting as I was using a stamp set with small/fine lettering on a somewhat textured watercolor paper. I stamped several times with clear embossing ink and heat set with silver embossing powder. I trimmed the painted card panel slightly smaller than A2 and matted it with some coordinating patterned paper in my stash. Finally, I added a mix of enamel dots in subtle, yet coordinating shades of the watercolor background that contribute to the look of fish blowing air bubbles!
